Thinking of setting up a private server, seems rather straight forward. Anything I should be aware about though? Just some things I could use further down the line, say maybe I want to delete the server or what-not. Thanks in advance! 🙌

The biggest thing is that you'll want the default scripts! And if you want it to be private, set announce to false in the config. Otherwise everyone will be able to see it and join (and also see your IP)

Otherwise, if you want a public server, you'll need to port forward

oh awesome, ive already got what seems to be everythin downloaded but thanks so much! Is it a myth that server hosting requires a ridiculous pc? Or is that really the case, cus I'm sure mine is capable but I'm curious about that. Sorry if these are stupid questions by the way. Lastly, if i were to want to delete the server down the line? would that be a simple process? Thanks so much again!

depends on what kind of server you're trying to host. minecraft servers require a lot of resources. but the jc4mp server is very lightweight and doesn't require that much

deleting your server is easy - just delete all the files

oh awesome! seems real simple. And about the actual hosting of the server itself, how does that work. Does it only go online when my Pc is on? when I'm in the server myself? or is it online regardless. real sorry, i know very little about this but you've been a huge help thanks!

the server itself is one exe that you run. while the exe is running, your server is online! if you shut down your computer or close the exe, your server will shut down

alrighty good new, I've got everything sorted and managed to boot in using the search bar at the top to enter my info. I'm now trying to see if I can get my server to pop up on the list just out of curiosity. I've set the "announce" to true but i kind seem to find my server? any thoughts? thanks 🙂

Its strange because I've set it to true, but on the command prompt upon opening the server, it says, "Server will not appear on the server list. "announce" is false."

AHH! fixed it! sorry for all the bother!
